Dr. Wesley E. Heath (he/him/his) is a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) scholar-practitioner with experience in multiple industries including education and healthcare. Wes earned his dual Bachelor of Arts degree in in Sociology and Psychology from Manchester University in 2014 and received his Master of Arts degree in Sociology from Ball State University in 2016. In March of 2021, he successfully completed his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership & Research at Louisiana State University (LSU).
From 2016 through mid-2021, Wes worked in the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at LSU as an Assistant Director, and eventually promoted to Associate Director, for Cross-Cultural Affairs. In this role, he focused on researching, designing, and implementing strategies that encouraged members of the campus community to work across social lines, exploring complex notions of diversity, intersectionality, and social justice. He served as the advisor for Asian American, Latinx and Hispanic, LGBTQ+, and Native American student services.
In August of 2021, Wes transitioned to a new role as Regional Director for Diversity & Inclusion with Ochsner Health, Louisiana's largest employer and healthcare system. Wes is currently the Assistant Vice President of Inclusion for Ochsner Health. In this role, he develops curricula, programs, events, and strategies that support Ochsner's inclusivity work for patients, employees, and communitites across the system.

In this workshop you will explore the experiences of plus-size/fat individuals by looking at the effects of implicit bias and sizeism on self-esteem, stigma, and workplace discrimination.
